We frequently receive inquiries about why we do not permit visits. This is understandable, especially considering the many websites that advise prospective buyers to visit breeders and meet the puppy parents before purchasing or joining a waiting list. However, these sites often prioritize the buyer's experience over the welfare of the puppies and the breeder. With all that’s going on nowadays we have to choose safety for ourselves and our dogs. Below are the reasons we do not allow visits. It's important to note that our puppies are raised in our home.
Safety of the Puppies:
- Puppies have immature immune systems. Many visitors unknowingly bring diseases such as parvovirus and distemper, which can lead to the death of an entire litter. I personally know several breeders, who have lost entire litters due to parvovirus introduced by visitors. We will not take that risk.
- Stressed mothers lead to stressed puppies. New mothers are often emotionally charged and protective. When a stranger arrives, the mother can become stressed, resulting in an increase in cortisol that enters her milk. The puppies then consume this cortisol rich milk and become stressed as well.
- Anxious mothers can inadvertently harm puppies. When a stranger visits, a mother dog may feel threatened and react quickly to assess the situation. In her urgency, she might unintentionally step on or crush a puppy.
- All the puppies are sold to families, and I serve as their guardian. I have been entrusted with their care during the critical early weeks of their lives. As a guardian, I must do everything possible to protect them. If one of the puppies were yours, you would expect me to prioritize its safety.
Safety of My Dogs and Family:
- Those who contact me are strangers. I only have basic information from your email, which may or may not be accurate. Inviting a stranger into my home poses a risk to the safety of my dogs and family, which is one of the reasons I breed in the first place.
- Some people view visiting puppies as a fun weekend activity. I will not jeopardize the health and safety of my puppies, dogs, and family for casual visits. Only serious and committed buyers deserve that level of access. FaceTime calls are a great alternative for everyone’s protection. To help you feel confident that we are not a puppy mill or a fraudulent website, we are happy to provide references from families who have our puppies. We also arrange FaceTime calls, share photos, and send videos.
We appreciate your understanding that we will not compromise on the health and safety of our puppies, and we hope you view this as a positive aspect of being a responsible breeder.
I am active on social media and will share weekly pictures and videos of the puppies as they grow. For those who have placed a deposit, we will keep you updated with videos, photos, and communication leading up to puppy go home day.
We are happy to FaceTime or phone call. We have many references.
Hopefully our policy is one you will view as being responsible and a reflection of being a quality breeder who cares about our puppies and our purchasing families.
